Duo arrested in SUV stolen from woman after gunpoint robbery

Police are investigating a man and a woman after officers spotted them inside a vehicle stolen from a 54-year-old woman in a robbery at Aiea Loop Trail.

The suspects, ages 26 and 43, were spotted at about 7:45 a.m Monday at the intersection of Meheula Parkway and Makaimoimo Street in Mililani in a Kia Sportage belonging to the woman.

The male suspect who stole the vehicle from the victim in the June 19 robbery remains at large. Police said the suspect, clad in camouflage pants, brandished a handgun and stole her cellular phone and car keys from the hiker who was about a quarter-mile to a half-mile on the trail from the trailhead.

The suspect fled in the woman’s Kia Sportage. Police said the 54-year-old woman was not injured.

The female suspect spotted inside the vehicle in Mililani Monday morning was arrested on suspicion of driving without a license, promotion of a dangerous drug in the third-degree and unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.

Police arrested the male suspect inside the vehicle on suspicion of unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle in the second-degree, promotion of a dangerous drug in the third degree, resisting arrest and a warrant.

Evidence recovered from the stolen vehicle has provided some leads to the robbery suspect. Police declined to disclose details of the evidence.
