Weather officials downgraded the high surf warning on the Big Island to an advisory until 6 p.m. Sunday.

The high surf advisory for Oahu, Niihau, Kauai, Molokai and Maui was extended until 6 p.m. Sunday.

Increasing trade winds will bring low-end advisory level surf between 6 and 8 feet to east facing shores, officials said.

A high surf warning for north and east facing shores of the Big Island is still in effect through 10 a.m. Sunday.

A high surf advisory for north facing shores of Oahu, Niihau, Kauai, Molokai and Maui was canceled but east facing shores of Oahu, Molokai and Maui are still under advisory until 6 p.m. Sunday.

Weather officials reported that surf is expected to be between 6 and 8 feet along east facing shores of Oahu, Kauai, Molokai and Maui wiht moderate impacts and strong breaking waves.

On the Big Island, surf is expected to be between 20 and 25 feet along the north facing shores and 10 t0 15 feet along the east.

An elevated north swell mixed with strong trade winds are making rough and varied surf along exposed shorelines with high impacts and the possibility of ocean water sweeping across portions of beaches which could impact coastal properties and infrastructure, officials said.

Officials are advising the public to heed all warnings by ocean safety members and to stay well away from the shoreline.
