Dionne Warwick’s event, titled “Let There Be Light,” will benefit Hoʻola Na Pua and In Unison, two local institutions serving girls rescued from sexual exploitation; and American Renaissance Academy, an arts-oriented college prep school in Kapolei.

Grammy Award-winning pop star Dionne Warwick will celebrate her 77th birthday on Saturday with a gala benefit featuring Warwick’s son, Damon Elliott, at Hoku’s at the Kahala Hotel & Resort.

The event, titled “Let There Be Light,” will benefit Hoʻola Na Pua and In Unison, two local institutions serving girls rescued from sexual exploitation; and American Renaissance Academy, an arts-oriented college prep school in Kapolei.

The event is named after an inspirational film starring Warwick that was co-produced by Elliott along with Jason Lent of AMBLVD Records. Elliott recently relocated to Honolulu.

“Now that I am a new resident of Honolulu, I felt this was the perfect place to commemorate my mom’s 77th birthday. We have been coming to Hawaii for many years, and Hoku’s holds precious memories for us,” Elliott said in a news release.

Elliott will perform at the event, as will students from the American Renaissance Academy. Also appearing will be Alexander Jean, the duo featuring “Dancing with the Stars’” Mark Ballas and his wife, BC Jean.

Festivities begin at 5 p.m., with a red-carpet welcome and silent auction, and dinner at 7 p.m. Guest appearances and birthday performances start at 8 p.m., with a VIP after-party at 9 p.m.

Tickets are $200 per person and available at eventbrite.com. For more information, email lettherebelightparty@gmail.com.
