March for fallen police officers to close Beretania Street lanes, nearby roads this evening

Honolulu Police Department officers walked during the Remembrance Walk on May 15, 2017. Several roads and lanes will be closed for today’s march in downtown.
Police plan to close Beretania Street lanes during rush hour this evening for a memorial march honoring fallen officers.
HPD officials said this afternoon that the procession will start at the Honolulu Police Department’s Alapai headquarters and proceed to the State Capitol. Several roads and lanes will be temporarily closed as participants march to the Capitol where a memorial service is planned at the Rotunda. The event is part of the annual Police Week commemoration.
The closures include:
>> At 5 p.m., two makai lanes of Beretania Street will be closed from Hale Makai to Alapai streets.
>> At 5:30 p.m., three makai lanes on Beretania will be closed from Ward Avenue to Richards Street.
>> Also at 5:30 p.m., Alapai Street between King and Beretania streets will be closed, and traffic will be redirected at the intersection of Punchbowl and King streets.
>> Vehicles heading makai on Punchbowl Street must turn right on Beretania Street.
>> No vehicles will be allowed to head in the mauka direction on Punchbowl Street between King and Beretania Streets.
Roads will reopen once the participants have passed, HPD said, adding that drivers can expect delays and should take alternate routes.
