Radar shows heavy showers over parts of Oahu this evening.

National Weather Service forecasters issued a flood advisory for Oahu until 8 p.m. as heavy rain hit parts of the island. The advisory has since expired.

“At 5:06 p.m., radar indicated heavy showers over the south shore of Oahu moving northeast at 15 mph,” the advisory said. “Rain was falling at a rate of over an inch per hour.”

In addition, forecasters posted a “special marine warning” for a small area north of Oahu earlier tonight. They said that around 4:30 p.m., “a strong thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts was located” about 9 nautical miles northeast of Kahuku and nearly stationary.

“Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves,” the warning said.

Light southeasterly winds may bring a return to hot and humid weather around the middle of next week.
