Threats against Kailua, Big Isle schools prompt police presence

Anonymous threats made against two high schools on Hawaii island and Oahu has prompted police presence at the campuses today.

Derek Inoshita, spokesman of the Hawaii Department of Education, said the threats to Konawaena High School in Kona and Kalaheo High School in Kailua were made Monday night. The threats are unrelated.

The Hawaii Police Department and Honolulu Police Department investigated the threats and determined there is no danger at the respective schools.

Police are at both campuses today as a precautionary measure.

“Classes are proceeding as normal,” Inoshita said.
