Kamehameha Highway reopens fronting Haleiwa Beach Park
One lane of Kamehameha Highway fronting Haleiwa Beach Park remains closed this afternoon due to a downed pole, according to Hawaiian Electric Company officials.
As of 11:05 a.m., HECO had reopened one lane of the highway and was contraflowing traffic through the area.
As of 1 p.m., power was fully restored to the area. More than 900 were initially without power, with about 650 left in the dark overnight while HECO crews made repairs.
The outage started around 9:19 p.m. Saturday and affected residents in Waialua, Haleiwa, Waimea, Kawailoa and Helemano.
The highway will be completely reopened once repairs in the area are finished.
