Police searching for suspect in stabbing of 17-year-old girl at Kahala Beach

Police are asking for public assistance in their search for a man who stabbed a 17-year-old girl in the Kahala Beach area Wednesday.

The suspect is described as being a Caucasian mix, 5-foot-9 to 6 feet in height, with dark curly hair. The man was wearing a white T-shirt.

Police said the girl was stabbed at about 1:45 p.m. on the makai side of 4663 Kahala Ave. The suspect was last seen running west along the shoreline.

Paramedics treated the girl with cuts across her upper body and to her hands. She was transported to the hospital in serious condition, according to Honolulu Emergency Medical Services.

The incident has been classified as an attempted murder in the second degree.

Police are asking residents who live in the area to review their home security video footage to see if anything suspicious was captured.

“If you were also in the area at the time, please let us know if you witnessed any suspicious person or activity,” the police said in a news release.

Anyone with information about the suspect should call 911, police said, adding that he should not be approached.
