Curtis Murayama is the Honolulu Star-Advertiser’s sports editor, with more than 45 years of journalistic experience.
Murayama worked at the Honolulu Advertiser for 33 years, starting in 1977 as a sports reporter and page layout designer before being named sports editor in 1999 until the newspaper merger in 2010. Murayama was the Star-Advertiser’s deputy sports editor from 2010, until becoming the sports editor in 2021.
Murayama was born in Honolulu and is a graduate of Kaimuki High School and the University of Oregon, with a double major in journalism and speech communication. Murayama has a wife and three children and two grandchildren.
