HPU women drop UH-Hilo

Jazzmin Awa-Williams and Paris Gravely scored 16 points apiece to lead Hawaii Pacific to a 62-51 women’s basketball victory over Hawaii-Hilo yesterday in a nonconference game at the Blaisdell Arena.

Mana Hopkins added nine points, five rebounds and two blocks for the Sea Warriors (3-3).

Lindsay Cartwright and Kirsty Imai scored 11 points each for the Vulcans, who committed 28 turnovers. Cartwright was 4-for-5 from the field, and Imai hit two 3-pointers.

Hawaii-Hilo opened the game with a 9-2 run and held a 26-20 halftime advantage.

The Sea Warriors play Charleston on Dec. 15 in the Malika Sports Hoop ‘N Surf Classic at the Kilauea Recreation Center.
