The National Weather Service issued a gale watch for the Pailolo and the Alenuihaha channels 10 a.m. today until 6 p.m. Saturday.
A gale watch is issued when gale force winds of 39 mph to 54 mph are present.
A small craft advisory is also in effect until 10 a.m. Friday for the Pailolo and Alenuihaha channels.
All Hawaiian coastal waters under a small craft advisory until 6 p.m. Saturday.
A high wind watch was issued for Haleakala Summit 10 a.m. Friday until 6 p.m. Saturday.
Breezy conditions will be building across the islands starting Friday until Saturday, with periods of strong winds, a National Weather Service meteorologist said.
