Former Waipahu resident Brian Viloria defeated Mexico’s Omar Soto by split decision on Saturday night at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City, Philippines.
Two judges scored the bout 97-93 in favor of Viloria while the third gave the fight by the same score to Soto.
Viloria improves to 27-3 with a win in his first fight at 112 pounds in 19 months. He hadn’t fought since losing the IBF light flyweight title to Carlos Tamara in January.
Soto fell to 19-7-2 with the loss.
