Woman who died at OCCC had a pre-existing medical condition
The 37-year-old woman who collapsed at the Oahu Community Correctional Facility and died at the hospital had a pre-existing medical condition, said Clayton Frank, Hawaii public safety director.
The medical examiner’s office has identified the woman as Renee Lessary.
She was being held on a third-degree theft charge because she was unable to post $1,000 bail.
Lessary complained of not feeling well, so she was taken to the OCCC infirmary Wednesday morning, where she collapsed at 11:20 a.m. and was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center, Frank said.
The Medical Examiner’s Office said the cause of death is pending the results of an autopsy.
