Maui residents return home after brush fire prompts evacuation

Maui fire department officials today are investigating the source of a brush fire that was reported shortly before midnight at the Kehalani subdivision and resulted in the evacuation of several homes.

An aerial survey will be conducted as part of the assessment by fire officials.
Just before 4 this morning the residents at the Iliahi townhomes, the Ohia at Kehalani and the villas were allowed to return home.

The American Red Cross had set up a shelter at the Maui War Memorial Gym.
No structures were affected by the blaze and no one was injured.
