Risser leads Seattle Pacific to 2 wins

Sarah Risser had 15 kills and Paige Hoffman 11 to lead the unbeaten Seattle Pacific women’s volleyball team to a 25-11, 25-17, 25-22 victory over Brigham Young-Hawaii last night in Laie.

Lauren Hagemeyer had 13 kills for the Seasiders, who hit .097 for the night in falling to 2-4. BYU-Hawaii plays Texas Women’s University at 10:30 a.m. today.

» Risser had 19 kills and Lindsey Wodrich 13 to lead Seattle Pacific over Hawaii-Hilo (3-2) in an earlier match yesterday, 25-11, 26-24, 22-25 and 25-18.

» Natasha Bell had 12 kills as Hawaii Pacific improved to 6-0 with a 25-12, 25-20, 22-25, 25-20 victory over Montana State-Billings at Saint Andrew’s Priory on the second day of the Equus Challenge.

 

Sea Warriors sign power forward

Jason Jackson, a 6-foot-8 power forward from Dallas, is joining the Hawaii Pacific men’s basketball team as a senior transfer from Arkansas-Fort Smith. Jackson averaged 7.4 points and 6.2 rebounds in 19 games with UA-Fort Smith last season.

HPU opens its season Nov. 11 against Simon Fraser in the first round of the Western Oregon/Phoenix Inn D2 Shootout in Monmouth, Ore.

 

UH men’s tennis schedule loaded

The University of Hawaii men’s tennis team opens its fall schedule at the D’Novo All-American Championship on Oct. 2-10 in Tulsa, Okla., led by three-time all-Western Athletic Conference selection Dennis Lajola. The Rainbows’ first team event is Nov. 23 against Stanford in a mock dual match in Waikoloa, Hawaii.

Hawaii opens its spring season with home matches Jan. 7 against No. 13 Louisville, Jan. 8 vs. No. 14 Duke and Jan. 10 vs. No. 2 Tennessee. The Rainbows open WAC play April 8 against Fresno State in Moscow, Idaho, in a rematch of last season’s WAC championship.
