The land, sea and air search for a 33-year-old Pahoa bodyboarder, missing since Monday off the Big Island’s Kaimu Beach, went into its third and possibly last day this morning.

Fire officials today said the search for Paul Currier will end at dusk unless today’s search turns up a reason to continue.

Witnesses reported seeing Currier sink in rough water and resurface face down before losing sight of him at Kaimu Beach fronting Kalapana Village Cafe about 4 p.m. Monday, firefighters said.

Seas today continue to be rough along the remote east Hawaii coastline, fire officials reported.

The fire department said none of Currier’s belongings have been found on any of the beaches in the area.

Yesterday, a Coast Guard helicopter from Barbers Point assisted in the search. But the Coast Guard is not involved today, officials said.
