Chaminade wins Hawaii Challenge
Mamadou Diarra scored 19 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and blocked three shots to lead Chaminade past BYU-Hawaii 87-76 last night in the final of the Hawaii Challenge men’s basketball tournament at McCabe Gym.
Shane Hanson hit six 3-pointers for the Silverswords (7-4) on his way to 19 points. Jet Chang also had 19 to lead the Seasiders (4-3).
In the third-place game, Dirk Snell scored 22 points, 18 on six 3-pointers, as Hawaii-Hilo turned back Hawaii Pacific 79-78 in overtime. The Vulcans moved to 4-2 with the win.
Nick Frazier led the Sea Warriors (3-5) with 20 points.
