John McCain’s bluster gives Hokulea rough sail
The Polynesian Voyaging Society, which has sailed into many a Pacific port, now has arrived in the Twitterverse.
PVS, already well-respected in Hawaii for educational initiatives and the journeys of the Hokulea, had Twitter abuzz in recent days over an insult from U.S. Sen. John McCain.
McCain said on the Senate floor that the society tops his Pork Barrel Hall of Shame for the $300,000 U.S. Sen. Daniel Inouye put in an omnibus spending bill for PVS educational programs. The bill was withdrawn late yesterday.
"Now some people are watching and thinking I’m making this up," McCain chortled. "I’m not making it up."
