ESPNU to televise UH-Fresno softball game
The Hawaii softball team’s game at Fresno State on April 1 will be televised nationally on ESPNU, the network announced yesterday.
The game, set for 5 p.m. Hawaii time, is the opener of a three-game series between the Western Athletic Conference rivals at Bulldog Diamond and will mark UH’s 13th appearance on national television. The program’s 12 previous appearances came in the 2007 regionals and super regionals and last year’s super regional at Alabama and Women’s College World Series.
The Rainbow Wahine went 4-2 against the Bulldogs last season, including a 14-3 victory in the WAC tournament championship game. UH went on to the WCWS to complete at 50-16 season.
Fresno State went 41-21 and reached the final of the Los Angeles regional. The Bulldogs are the only team to appear in every NCAA tournament.
Hawaii opens the 2011 season on Feb. 10 against Southern Utah at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
