Saddleton wins WAC honor

University of Hawaii junior Sarah Saddleton was named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference women’s indoor track and field athlete of the week on Wednesday.

Saddleton, a junior from Auckland, New Zealand, leapt to a height of 1.73 meters — tops in the WAC this season — to capture first in the high jump at the University of Washington Indoor Preview last Saturday.

Saddleton, and the Rainbow Wahine will host the Sunset Meet No. 1 at Clarence T.C. Ching Field tomorrow.

Showers no longer a threat with an armband to protect your MP3

Running is NOT a water sport. But with the propensity for Hawaii’s passing showers to pass over your running route, sometimes wet happens.

Solution to protect your workout tunes? Amphibx Fit, the latest addition to the Amphibx Armband line for iPhone, iPod Touch, large MP3 players and music-enabled phones.

Launched last week by H2O Audio, it’s a breathable Velcro armband with an easy-to-load, lightweight soft case that offers waterproof, sweatproof and weatherproof protection. It also has a "StableFit" buoy that ensures the armband will float with your device inside, making it an ideal companion when swimming.

Remove the armband and the soft case provides moisture protection when dropped into a backpack, fannypack, purse or pocket. No more worries about leaky water bottles or sand.

Starting at $59.99 at www.h2oaudio.com, Amazon.com and other retailers locally such as Best Buy, Sports Authority and the Apple Store. If buying from Amazon.com, the shipping to Hawaii is $6.49.
