Kauai police launch anti-speeding campaign
Kauai police are launching a new anti-speeding campaign focusing on getting people to slow down in construction zones.
Police say they’re starting the new effort next week because there’s been an increase in construction projects on Kauai.
Assistant Chief of the Patrol Services Bureau Alejandre Quibilan says people will need to learn to plan ahead and give themselves extra time to reach their destinations safely.
Quibilan said in a statement Thursday that drivers should follow construction zone speed limits 24 hours a day, seven days a week and not just during construction hours.
He says police officers will be enforcing the speed limit at various times of the day.
The fine for speeding in a construction zone is $297.
