Lt. Gov. Brian Schatz, left, and Honolulu Mayor Peter Carlisle sawed a piece of lumber yesterday as part of the grand-opening ceremony for the new Lowe’s home-improvement store in Iwilei. It is a tradition for Lowe’s to saw a piece of lumber instead of cutting a ribbon. The store opened last week.

Two Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties executives have earned Certified Relocation Professional designations, awarded by Worldwide ERC:

>> Linda Komatsu-Wong, vice president of business development and relocation director at CBP’s King Street office.

>> Kevin Batungbacal, relocation manager at CBP’s King Street office.

Galiher DeRobertis Ono has hired Michael A. Ragsdale as an attorney. He has 35 years of legal and medical experience, including as medical director for Davis Levin Livingston, working in the critical care unit and operating room at Straub Clinic & Hospital and serving in the pediatric intensive care unit and neonatal intensive care unit at Kapiolani Medical Center as well as Castle Medical Center, St. Francis Medical Center West, Ann Pearl Nursing Home and the state of Hawaii Department of Corrections.

The Office of Hawaiian Affairs has awarded a $65,784 grant to Alaka‘ina Foundation. Funds will go toward Ho‘o­maka Hou Proj­ect at Hana High and Elementary School on Maui. The proj­ect fuses science and technology education with traditional Hawaiian cultural practices.
