Man killed in Waipahu hit-and-run had just finished work
The Medical Examiner’s Officer has identified the 86-year-old Waipahu man killed by a hit-and-run driver Monday morning as Quirino Aguisanda.
Police said Aguisanda was on his way home after finishing work in Waikiki and had just gotten off a city bus at 2:37 a.m. Monday. He was walking makai in a cross walk on Farrington Highway at Awamoku Street in Waipahu when a truck hit him and kept going, police said. A witness gave traffic investigators a description of the truck but did not get a license plate number.
Aguisanda died in the Queen’s Medical Center at 7:03 a.m. on Monday. An autopsy will be conducted today.
Police said that anyone with information about the accident should call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300, or *CRIME on cellphone.
The death was the 25th traffic fatality on Oahu this year, the same number as at this time last year.
