A man who stabbed a woman to death after entering her unlocked Honolulu apartment has been sentenced to life in prison.

Sato Sigrah was sentenced Tuesday to life with the possibility of parole.

He pleaded guilty in April to second-degree murder, first-degree burglary and two counts of first-degree assault in a plea deal with prosecutors.

At his sentencing, he apologized to the family of Lyola Mesebeluu, who was stabbed and killed with a kitchen knife in October 2008.

Her husband and 2-year-old daughter were also injured.
