A 20-year-old man allegedly tried to extort money from a 28-year-old victim who tried to get his stolen bag and cell phone returned in Waikiki on Saturday, police said.

The victim reported his bag stolen on Saturday and called his cell phone after 6 p.m. The man who answered said the victim had to give him money to get his belongings returned, police said.

The victim notified police and arranged to meet the suspect, who was arrested on suspicion of second-degree extortion and third-degree promotion of dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia.
