A trial began in state court this morning for Wahiawa physician Dennis Ayon, who is accused of trying to hire a patient to kill his ex-girlfriend.
The prosecutor told the jury in opening statements that Ayon, 49, wanted his ex-girlfriend killed because of his legal troubles involving her.
Ayon’s lawyer said the patient made up the story to get back at Ayon for rejecting her romantic advances.
