Kauai County advises residents not to leave plastic bags behind

Kauai County officials are reminding people to not leave plastic bags bags behind when depositing yard clippings and other green waste at county facilities.

Workers have reported a marked increase in the number of plastic bags being deposited at these sites, the county said. People are asked to remove green waste from plastic bags when they deposit it at a transfer station or the Kekaha Landfill.

There is no charge to residents to drop off green waste. For more information, visit www.kauai.gov/recycling or call the County Recycling Office at 241-4837.
