Large tiger shark reported off Ala Moana reef on Sunday
Surfers told lifeguards Sunday that they spotted a 10- to 12-foot tiger shark “flopping around” at the break known as Courts off Ala Moana Beach.
No further sightings were reported Monday.
Ocean Safety Operations Chief Jim Howe said the surfers saw the shark about 2:20 p.m. Sunday.
Lifeguards on personal watercraft and on the beach warned beachgoers and posted signs.
The Ocean Safety Division also contacted the Coast Guard to check for a shark in the area during normal flights.
