The TripAdvisor 2012 Travelers’ Choice Destination awards list three Hawaii locales among the top 25 U.S. destinations, while among global destinations, Honolulu is No. 20 among the top 25.

Among U.S. destinations, votes by TripAdvisor users rated Honolulu at No. 5, Lahaina, Maui at No. 21, and Kailua-Kona at No. 25.

The top three U.S. cities were New York City, San Francisco and Chicago; while the top three Travelers’ Choice World Destinations are London, England, New York City, and Rome, Italy.

The awards are based on millions of reviews and opinions posted by travelers using the TripAdvisor website.
