The Amorphophallus titanum is expected to bloom on Thursday.

Hold your breath for this rare bloom.

The plant — sometimes called "Big Stinky" or the "Corpse Flower" — is having one of its rare blooms at Honolulu’s Foster Botanical Garden Orchid Conservatory.

The short-lived cluster of flowers of the Titam Arum plant blooms once every three to five years and has a "horrific odor" similar to rotted flesh, which serves to attract the carrion beetles that pollinate the flower, the Botanical Garden said.

The plant, scientifically known as Amorphophallus titanum, an endangered species native to Sumatra in Indonesia, is the largest unbranched, inflorescence in the plant kingdom.

Foster Botanical Garden, which charges an admission $5 for adults and less or free for children, is located at 50 North Vineyard.
