University of Hawaii Athletic Director Jim Donovan introduced Norm Chow as the new UH head football coach.

The University of Hawaii is ranked 81st among 120 NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision teams in the Orlando Sentinel’s annual preseason ratings.

“Hawaii faces a lot of challenges with players adjusting to a new coaching staff and the Warriors transitioning to the Mountain West Conference,” the paper notes.

The rebuilding Warriors are ranked ahead of Texas Tech (83), San Diego State (85), Tennessee (88), Boston College (94) Oregon State (96) Fresno State (109) and Nevada-Las Vegas (118) among others by the Sentinel.

“(Norm) Chow commands immense respect in the college football world and it will be very interesting to see how he handles a program that has long been offensively oriented,” the Sentinel said.
