The body of a missing Hawaii island fisherman has been found.

The Coast Guard and the local fire department began searching for 30-year-old Ceasare Moses Saturday afternoon. The Coast Guard says he was retrieving his nets near the Big Island’s South Point when he was swept out to sea.

Friends tried to throw him a flotation device but were unsuccessful, according to the Hawaii County Fire Department.

Moses was last seen about 200 yards off-shore and drifting west.

Lt. Leigh Cotterell says the Coast Guard received word from the fire department that Moses’ body was found off South Point early today.

The aerial and ocean search covered more than 1,500 square miles.
