Officials identify man who died in surf contest Saturday
The Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man who died Saturday while competing in a military surf contest at White Plains Beach in Kalaeloa as Peterson Burke, 73, of Mililani.
A determination of the cause of death is pending an autopsy that is scheduled for today.
Witnesses said Burke was a competitor in the All-Military Surf Classic.
Burke was found unresponsive at White Plains Beach and taken in critical condition to a hospital, where he died.
