Kauai police recovered the body of a man found floating in waters off Shipwreck’s Beach on Tuesday evening.
Police tentatively identified the 35-year-old man, but officials were not disclosing his name until relatives are notified.
Police do not believe foul play was a factor in his death, a county news release said.
A hiker called 911 about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to report a body floating near the rocks at the Poipu beach.
Firefighters arrived first and found the body about a quarter-mile east of Shipwreck’s Beach. Rescue personnel on the Fire Department helicopter helped police recover the body.
Police opened an investigation. An autopsy was ordered.
