An 18-year-old man who was killed by an allegedly drunk driver early Saturday morning in Kunia has been identified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office as Orlando Vallejo Jr. of Mililani.

Police said Vallejo was standing outside a vehicle about 12:45 a.m. when he was stuck by a vehicle driven by a 20-year-old Honolulu man, who was possibly speeding on Kupuna Loop near Kahakea Street.

Vallejo was taken to the hospital in serious condition, but later died, police said.

The driver was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence and first-degree negligent injury.

The crash was the 43rd traffic fatality on Oahu this year compared with 34 at this time last year.
