Motorcyclist killed in Iroquois Point crash identified

The Medical Examiner’s office has identified the 36-year-old Ewa Beach man, who was killed Sunday night when he lost control of his motorcycle on Iroquois avenue and struck an utility pole, as Augustine Ahuna Jr.

Ahuna was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, said a spokeswoman for the city Department of Emergency Services. Police said the motorcyclist apparently lost control, struck a utility pole and was ejected from his vehicle. He was not wearing a helmet.

Excessive speed could have been a possible factor in the crash although it’s yet unknown if alchohol was involved, police said.

An autopsy was conducted Monday to determine cause of death.

The death is the 46th on Oahu roads, compared to 42 at the same time this year so far this year and the 15th involving a motorcyclist.
