A Coast Guard crew dropped medical supplies Monday to a 26-year-old woman suffering from a medical condition on Laysan Island in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands.

An HC-130 Hercules airplane from Air Station Barbers Point was launched at noon Monday, reached the drop site at 3 p.m. and delivered the medication by parachute.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife contracted a ship from Honolulu to possibly medevac the woman.

Laysan Island is about 880 miles northwest of Honolulu without a runway for planes to land.
