Kauai firefighters airlift girl injured in fall on Hanakapiai Trail
Firefighters airlifted a woman and her daughter from Hanakapiai Trail to Princeville Airport on Kauai on Wednesday after the daughter suffered a possible concussion in a fall.
Atbout 1:30 p.m., the 11-year-old girl and her mother weres hiking when the girl fell and hit her head, the Kauai Fire Department said in a news release. She experienced blurred vision, headache and nausea from a possible concussion.
After they arrived at the airport, paramedics then transported them to Wilcox Memorial Hospital. The girl’s condition was unknown, according to a county spokeswoman.
Four hours later, fire rescue flew back to the area after dispatchers reported an injured 36-year-old hiker at Hanakapiai Beach. She was transported back to the Kee trailhead and assisted to her vehicle. She refused medical treatment.
