Small quake shakes east side of Hawaii island

VOLCANO, Hawaii >> A small earthquake struck the east coast of Hawaii island Sunday, but no damage or injuries were reported.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude-3.8 quake struck about 1:56 p.m. 

It hit at a depth of 

5.5 miles and was centered about 10 miles south of Volcano and 

12 miles southwest of Fern Forest.

Police said were no reports of damage or injury.

At 6 p.m. Saturday a magnitude-4.1 earthquake rattled Loihi submarine volcano. Loihi, about 22 miles off the coast of Kau, rises to within about 3,000 feet of the surface.
