Governor to submit budget to Legislature
Gov. Neil Abercrombie says he plans to submit his administration’s proposal for a two-year state budget through 2015.
Abercrombie on Monday called an afternoon news conference to discuss the proposal.
Abercrombie said earlier this month his budget planners were cautiously anticipating the state would need to make up anywhere from $25 million to $40 million in lost federal funds, depending on how Washington acts on the so-called fiscal cliff.
Abercrombie says the state is taking the approach that if the federal government can’t pay for it, the state will.
Hawaii’s budget for fiscal year 2013 is $11.3 billion.
