3-vehicle crash sends Aiea man to hospital in critical condition

A three-car collision sent a 59-year-old Aiea man to the hospital in critical condition, injured two other women and tied up traffic as police closed Ewa-bound lanes of Kamehameha Highway for several hours Thursday afternoon to investigate the crash.

The crash happened at about 12:35 p.m. on Kamehameha Highway near Hekaha Street and the Waimalu Shopping Center. Three vehicles, a 2008 silver Jeep Commander, a brown 2003 Toyota Corolla and a white 2003 Dodge Neon, were involved.

Honolulu police shut down theEwa-bound lanes of Kamehameha Highway just past Hekaha Street, and traffic was being diverted onto Hekaha. It was reopened just before 5 p.m.

Also hospitalized were a woman in her mid-60s and a 36-year-old Mililani woman. The older woman was reported to be in serious condition while the second woman was listed in stable condition, EMS said.
