This rig is driving concrete pilings for a waterfront operations facility at Marine Corps Base Hawaii.
No, it’s not a giant missile and launcher.
That’s what Marine Corps Base Hawaii officials are saying about a tall pile-driving rig and two equally tall cranes spotted on the north side of the base at Kaneohe Bay.
Some had questioned why what appeared to be a missile launcher had gone up at the base.
Base spokeswoman Capt. Pam Marshall said concrete piles are being brought in to anchor a new $13 million waterfront operations facility, which is expected to be completed in November.
