National Weather Service radar showed isolated showers over windward and mauka areas this morning.

Occasionally wet and windy trade wind weather is expected today.

Forecasters say a weather system near Kauai is creating rain clouds that are being blown over Oahu by the trade winds. The passing showers are mostly in windward and mauka areas, but the strong winds are blowing some rain over leeward areas.

In the 24-hour period ending at 2 p.m., about 1.25 inches fell in the back of Moanalua Valley; the Oahu Forest Reserve National Wildlife Refuge in the northern Koolau mountains got 1.2 inches; and .85 inches was recorded at the H-3 Tunnel.

The trade winds may ease by the weekend.

Honolulu’s forecast calls for partly cloudy skies through today with a 50 percent chance of rain.

Winds of 10 to 15 mph are expected in Honolulu.

An earlier wind advisory for the Big Island has been canceled.
