UH’s Schroeder throws TD pass in bowl loss

CARSON, Calif. >> Hawaii quarterback Sean Schroeder completed 13 of 17 passes for 138 yards and a touchdown to lead Team American, which dropped a 31-17 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl Game to Team National on Saturday.

LSU fullback J.C. Copeland ran for a pair of 1-yard touchdowns and Stanford’s Anthony Wilkerson ran for 67 yards and a touchdown for Team National.

Copeland, who never had a multi-touchdown game in 42 career games at LSU, was named MVP.

The game was tied at 14 at halftime, but the National scored on its first three possessions of the second half to cruise to victory.

Schroeder’s 15-yard swing pass to Dionte Spencer of McNeese State late in the second quarter forced a tie at halftime.
