Seattle-based Nordstrom Inc. this morning announced it will move its Ala Moana store to a new, 186,000 square-foot space within the center.

The existing store will continue to do business until the anticipated Spring 2016 opening of the new store.

The relocation is part of Ala Moana Center’s continuing redevelopment project which involves parking and retail areas and includes high-rise housing development. Nordstrom will be moving to the Ewa end of the center on Piikoi Street.

Nordstrom opened its current 211,000-square-foot store at Ala Moana Center in March 2008.
