Man floating in Hanauma Bay identified as Japanese tourist
The Medical Examiner’s officer will perform an autopsy to determine how a 63-year-old Japanese tourist died.
Katsumi Machida, of Tokyo, was last seen snorkeling 15 to 20 yards off shore at Hanauma Bay on March 31 when lifeguards found him floating in the water.
Lifeguards brought him to shore and started cardiopulmonary resuscitation. He was taken in critical condition to the hospital where he died Saturday.
