Kamehameha Highway in Kahaluu reopened after pole repairs

Kamehameha Highway near Kahaluu is open Friday morning after Hawaiian Telcom crews replaced a downed utility pole.

The road was closed at 47-045 Kamehameha Highway and traffic was contraflowed around the repair area. Police issued a traffic alert at about 2:35 a.m.

Crews replaced the pole and reopened the road by 6:30 a.m.

Hawaiian Telcom spokeswoman Su Shin said the pole was hit in a traffic accident.

The Honolulu Police traffic incidents website reports that there was a motor vehicle collision in the area at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
