UC Davis evens Big West baseball series against Hawaii
Tanner Bily’s two-run double in the seventh inning helped UC Davis defeat Hawaii 5-2 on Saturday afternoon at Dobbins Stadium in Davis, Calif.
UC Davis (22-28, 6-14) scored five unearned runs to even its series against Hawaii (20-29, 4-16).
Hawaii senior Scott Kuzminsky (4-7) allowed four runs on five hits in 6 1/3 innings with three walks and two strikeouts to take the loss.
With the scored tied 1-1, UC Davis had runners on first and second in the seventh inning when LJ Brewster bobbled a grounder to third, allowing the Aggies to load the bases. Scott Squier relieved Kuzminsky and gave up a sacrifice fly before Bily’s double, which was the only extra-base hit in the game.
Hawaii committed three errors.
Stephen Ventimilia singled and scored twice and Kaeo Aliviado and Marc Flores each had two singles as Hawaii outhit UC Davis 8-7.
