Wind, fire advisories issued in Las Vegas area
LAS VEGAS >> The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory and red flag fire warning for southern Nevada and parts of northwest Arizona.
Clark County air quality officials in Las Vegas also issued a dust advisory Monday, with forecasters predicting gusty winds into the evening.
Winds were expected to build to about 35 mph, with gusts to 45 mph during the afternoon.
Temperatures should reach the 90s, while relative humidity remains in the teens.
The weather service says that with vegetation very dry, the fire danger will remain high through the evening.
The Clark County Department of Air Quality in Las Vegas is advising residents and construction site operators to take precautions to prevent blowing dust that can cause discomfort for children, the elderly and people with respiratory diseases.
