Abercrombie appoints tourism, land board members
Gov. Neil Abercrombie is appointing two Oahu executives to state boards.
Kailua resident Wesley Furtado is being appointed to serve on the Board of Land and Natural Resources.
The Abercrombie administration said Monday Furtado has 26 years of work experience at the International Longshore and Warehouse Union. He’s currently ILWU International vice president responsible for directing and administering union programs and policies in Hawaii.
The governor is appointing Sean Dee of Honolulu to the Hawaii Tourism Authority board of directors.
Dee is currently executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Hawaii’s largest locally owned hotel company, Outrigger Enterprises Group.
Both appointments are being made on an interim basis. They are subject to state Senate confirmation.

Furtado’s appointment is effective immediately. Dee will join the tourism board on July 1.
